SUMMARY
A participatory art-travel project that turned World Car-Free Day in Busan into a site-responsive platform for environmental inquiry, local storytelling, and mobile technology-based art experience.
Walking more slowly, we begin to see more. The market was not a venue. It was the material.
OVERVIEW
Taking place across Dong-gu Office and the Sujeong Market district in Busan on World Car-Free Day 2016, ECO ART TRIP invited artists and audiences to move through everyday urban space together rather than treating the city as a fixed backdrop. At the center of the project was Art NOMAD Map, a mobile platform built with LBS and Beacon technology that connected participants to stories, performances, missions, and shared traces embedded in the site.
Across the plaza, underground parking area, and market streets, bicycle-powered participation, video mapping, performance, and digital archiving came together as one expanded artistic environment. The project marked an early methodological shift toward the participatory, site-responsive, and technologically mediated practice that would later develop further within Eco Action Forest.
